FAQ's

Here are some of the questions that we often get asked about the work we do. If you can’t find the answer to your question here, please get in contact and we’ll be happy to help.

  • What should I expect when having a new surface or driveway installed?

Take a look at our Driveways page for details about the stages involved in laying your drive. Overall, most surfaces or driveway projects are completed within a couple of days dependent  on drainage work required and additional work on edging and borders. We always aim to keep mess and disruption to a minimum and ensure all debris is taken away to leave a tidy site.

  • Does your work come with a guarantee?

We offer a guarantee on any repairs required due to labour and construction. We always use high-quality products, proven over many years. Different manufacturer guarantee periods apply for these materials. Please ask for details of the products to be used on your driveway.

  • We have had cheaper quotes. Why is your quote more expensive?

At Cheltenham Surfacing, we offer a complete professional service. From surveying your project to all construction stages required, including importantly excavation of the original area, we ensure everything is done to give you a high-quality driveway that will last. Please take a look at our advice on obtaining a quote to ensure that other companies adhere to the same professional standards of qualification and experience. Cheaper quotes could reflect that not all stages of the project are being considered by less-experienced workers or that corners are being cuts on the project.

  • How long do I have to wait before being able to use my surface or drive?

The surface or driveway can be walked on almost immediately; car traffic and parking should be avoided for around 24 hours – depending on weather conditions. Ask our staff on site for more advice after installation.

  • Taking care of your surface or driveway

Your new surface or driveway should last for many years and look as good as the day it was laid. There are some simple steps you can take to ensure that this continues to be the case for as long as possible. See our tips on taking care of your surface here.

  • Can you lay tarmac and asphalt in all weathers?

Tarmac and other surfacing materials can still be laid in most weather conditions including light rain. In more adverse weather conditions, it may be advisable to avoid starting the project but we will let you know if this is the case.

  • When do we have to pay?

We want you to be happy with your new surface from Cheltenham Surfacing and ordinarily we only ask for payment when the project is complete. On larger or more unusual projects where we may need to buy in a lot of material before a job can start, we may ask for a partial payment in advance.
